2026-08-27On August 26–27, Tec-Do and OpenAI co-hosted the ChatGPT Ads Global Advertiser Summit in Tokyo, bringing together more than 50 leading companies expanding globally, including Trip.com Group, JD.com and Shopee, for two days of discussions on AI Ads and Agentic Commerce.
Shuhao Li, CEO of Tec-Do; Lorry Destainville, Monetization Partnership at OpenAI; and Ying Dong, Head of Sales, Japan at OpenAI, were among the senior leaders who joined the event, sharing perspectives directly with global advertisers on AI Ads trends, opportunities across the ChatGPT platform and real-world commercial practices.

The event marked the first time OpenAI had co-hosted an industry event in Japan with an official technology partner, Tec-Do—one of the first official technology partners for ChatGPT Ads globally—bringing together prominent brands across different industries and stages of global growth, spanning e-commerce, travel, social platforms, smart hardware, gaming and AI applications.
The breadth of participation reflected the growing momentum behind Agentic Commerce and underscored Tec-Do’s evolution from a technology partner into an industry ecosystem hub connecting brands, technology and new opportunities for AI-driven growth.
Shuhao Li, CEO of Tec-Do, said:
“ChatGPT has opened a new gateway for AI into consumer decision-making and commercial transactions. Looking ahead, AI agents will play a much deeper role in understanding intent, product discovery, brand selection and purchase decisions, making Agentic Commerce a defining direction for the future of global business.
“Tec-Do aims to be a leader, builder and catalyst in this new era, helping more companies move early and capture the growth opportunities created by the next shift in how consumers discover, decide and transact.”

As co-host of the summit, Lorry Destainville, Monetization Partnerships at OpenAI, highlighted the strength of the collaboration between the two companies with three phrases: “Great Work, Real Drive, Deep Commitment.”
“We highly value our collaboration with the Tec-Do team,” Destainville said. “They consistently deliver high-quality work, move with speed and strong execution, and demonstrate a deep understanding of brands across industries. We look forward to deepening our collaboration and exploring the long-term commercial value of ChatGPT Ads together.”

One of the most substantive sessions of the two-day program was a closed-door briefing from OpenAI’s advertising leadership team.
Ying Dong, Head of Sales, Japan at OpenAI, and his team led an in-depth session of ChatGPT Ads’ global strategy, product roadmap and recommended actions for advertisers, offering participants an in-depth look at how the commercialization of ChatGPT Ads is evolving and what businesses should prepare for next.

Addressing one of the questions most relevant to advertisers — how to turn AI Ads into measurable business results — Jane Dou, VP of Strategy and Marketing at Tec-Do, drew on Tec-Do’s experience serving more than 100,000 brands worldwide to share the company’s latest proprietary ChatGPT Ads methodology and real-world commercial practices.
Her presentation covered the full journey from consumer insights and audience strategy to activation and performance validation, providing participating companies with an actionable playbook for putting ChatGPT Ads into practice.

Maeve Zhang, VP of Branding and PR at Tec-Do, added a broader perspective on the rise of Agentic Commerce:
“Agentic Commerce is emerging as a major new wave in global business, representing a multi-trillion-dollar market opportunity. In the future, brands will no longer speak only to consumers — they will increasingly need to speak to AI as well.
“While many companies are still watching how this space evolves, Tec-Do has already become one of the first official technology partners for ChatGPT Ads globally and has helped select customers become early movers in AI Ads.”

As discussions progressed, the focus among participating companies noticeably shifted — from whether they should enter AI Ads to where they should start and how they could reach meaningful results faster.
A broader consensus was also beginning to emerge. Whether for established industry leaders searching for new sources of growth or AI startups accelerating their global expansion, ChatGPT Ads is becoming more than another customer acquisition channel. For global companies already entering the AI Ads space, it is increasingly a strategic path that needs to be factored into their global growth plans.
Eric Xia, Japan Lead at SwitchBot, a global AI-powered embodied home robotics company, said:
“Tec-Do brought OpenAI and leading companies from different industries into one room for an open and substantive discussion. The event connected the entire journey from entering the space to execution, making it clear that ChatGPT Ads is already developing into a growth opportunity with a practical path to implementation.”
Poppy Luo, Growth Lead at VAST, a global AI company focused on 3D foundation models, said:
“Agentic Commerce is shifting advertising from passive exposure toward active intent matching. The verifiable commercialization path being built jointly by Tec-Do and OpenAI gives us greater confidence to deepen our AI Ads strategy. We look forward to working with Tec-Do on new possibilities such as immersive video advertising and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) interactions, and to exploring the next chapter of Agentic Commerce together.”
Zexin Yan, CEO of Japanese AI startup Gscora, said:
“For AI startups, accessing ChatGPT Ads through Tec-Do is both necessary and strategically important. The Japanese market places a strong emphasis on trust and user experience, while ChatGPT Ads creates a connection at the moment user intent emerges.
“Combined with Tec-Do’s global marketing and localization capabilities, we look forward to starting in Japan and jointly exploring new ways for AI products to reach global audiences.”
The Tokyo summit also came at a pivotal moment in the global expansion of ChatGPT Ads.
On August 11, OpenAI announced the expansion of ChatGPT Ads into Japan, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil and South Korea. Less than two weeks later, the platform expanded into 31 European markets, marking its largest market expansion since launch.
From initial testing in the United States in February to entering major global markets within six months, ChatGPT Ads is rapidly moving from regional experimentation toward global commercial adoption. Tens of thousands of marketing teams are now participating in the channel, as a new category of AI-native advertising rapidly takes shape.
Looking ahead, Tec-Do will continue to build on its domain-specific foundation model and multi-agent capabilities, translating each evolution of OpenAI’s platform into measurable growth opportunities for global brands and helping companies capture the emerging potential of both AI Ads and Agentic Commerce.
As Shuhao Li, CEO of Tec-Do, concluded:
“At the forefront of this shift in how commercial opportunities are created and captured, Tec-Do hopes to work with OpenAI and more customers to build the Agentic Commerce ecosystem together — validating more use cases, defining more repeatable playbooks and enabling companies to grow globally.
“We want every company to have the opportunity to become an early mover and a beneficiary of this new era, and together unlock the next frontier of growth in Agentic Commerce.”
